Samhain & Blue Moon {nov 1} 🌕🍂

Pick a card Sunday and a welcome into a darker season

I’m not sure about you, but this has been a powerful weekend of energy for me. Halloween? Blue Moon? Samhain?

It’s a time of death and rebirth. The end of some cycles and the beginning of new ones. Exciting, scary, and all part of this ride we’re on.

I’ve definitely been caught complaining about the long, cold winter. I try each year to consciously practice an appreciation for the cold and dark months. It’s a practice, for sure. I still make time to get away from MN as a warm-weather lover. But since I continue to choose to live in the north, I try to embrace the gifts the quieter, darker seasons bring.

During a recent Despacho offering—a gratitude practice that’s become a grounding staple in my life over recent years—I was reminded of a powerful truth: there are shadow and light, always.

It’s important that we embrace both sides of our experiences. The lessons we find often complement one another, and true growth and understanding require that we sit with both.

So, it’s time to welcome winter and turning inward.

The cards

Today’s cards are both from oracle decks. They are broader, archetypal themes rather than more specific narrative messages.

From left to right, piles 1-3.

Which pile draws you in the most?

Now is the perfect time to ask for guidance moving into this new, wintery cycle.

If nothing comes to mind, try, “What do I most need to hear right now?”

Breath. Listen. Feel. Then choose.

The crystals & stones:

All of today’s stones are unpolished Rose Quartz pieces.

1-3 Rose Quartz: heart opening, soothing, deep inner healing, fosters empathy & forgiveness✨heart chakra

Wowza, this is a powerful combination pile 1 people!

Being yourself is sacred. It is freedom.

Higher Choices shows two paths eventually leading to the light. It is here to remind you that we always have the power to choose. It’s the practice of listening to your inner knowing—your “gut”—that moves you closer to the places where you are in true alignment with yourself.

You may be facing one, or many, difficult choices. Or perhaps you find yourself in a “one step forward, two steps back” kind of scenario. It might even be that you feel so far from who you really are that you’re lost.

The lesson here is that only YOU have the answer. Like a fingerprint, your life’s journey is yours alone. To live this life in truth—in alignment with who you are—you need only to listen to that voice.

Sometimes it’s so soft it’s hard to hear it, other times (often when you’ve avoided learning an important lesson that keeps showing up) it’s a shout.

Whichever way you want to connect with your inner guidance, be true to yourself. This may mean making challenging decisions that others may not understand. But if decisions are made with love and in truth, you are right where you’re supposed to be.

Intention: I trust myself and what I know to be true for me and my journey. I am exactly where I am supposed to be.

This new season is a perfect time for deep reflection.

It’s been a strange year and you may have become distracted or shaken off course. Now is a time to take stock. Reflect on lessons and hurdles. Reflect on the things you cherish. Let that guide you to where you’re heading next.

Use sound in this journey. Rhythmic healing is ancient and found in cultures around the world. This can be big and loud with body movement and vocalization. It can also be as silent as meditation and aligning your vibration with your environment.

Feeling “out of it” or “off” is a sign that you’re in need of rhythm medicine. Dance. Pound a drum. Clap. Stomp your feet. Breathe.

Find resonance with your environment and you’ll find healing energy.

Intention: I am a vibrational being. I find alignment and healing through rhythm and movement.

Clarity is where you find what you most desire. Lack of clarity feeds procrastination and malaise.

It is a great gift when you’re able to find clarity.

The Initiation card is asking you to pay attention. There is powerful energy calling you to your own sacred space of clarity.

Clarity of mind comes from radical self-love, and the Initiation card reminds us that so many of the answers we seek and desires we want to be fulfilled begin with the Self.

Deep self-love requires embracing the shadow. Looking where it’s hard to look and releasing what no longer serves us in order to heal. By doing the work, clarity is revealed to you brighter and stronger than ever before.

Healing and loving yourself is an initiation into a new, beautiful cycle.

Intention for Self healing: I love you. I’m sorry. Forgive me. Thank you.

Capricorn Born’s main intention is to bring forward positive energy and guidance from the cards to help readers connect to their inner wisdom.

If there is someone in your life who might benefit from this weekly letter, consider sharing. If you’re not sure how to explain all of this, this first entry is a great thing to share.

I look forward to taking this winter journey with all of you.
